Statistical map services

Maps prepared for conducting censuses and statistical activities in suitable scales for urban and rural areas are statistical maps. The maps are used for:

1.    Monitoring geographic coverage of census area;

2.    Finding location and recognizing requisite addresses;

3.    Adopting statistical addresses with their geographical locations.

Thereupon, statistical maps not only show essential natural and artificial geographical features, but contain statistical addresses also. Such statistical addresses make feasible the adoption of statistical data in various levels with geographical location. Hence, providing statistical maps has always been considered as a part of information dissemination activities.

Due to recent changes and daily growth of technology, there might be changes in preparing, editing, updating, and archiving processes of statistical maps. The SCI objectives are using modern technologies specially GIS, as well as moving toward consolidation of map data required by public and private sectors. Mechanizing statistical maps, establishing geographical database, analyzing modern updating methods such as GPS, satellite images, and using PDAs in statistical surveys are current programs of the bureau.
