Mines


Census estimations in 1384 indicated that of 3324 operating mines in the country (with 3 % decrease compared to 1382), 2996 mines have been run by private and 327 mines by public sectors. In that year a total of 55 thousand workers have been working in the said mines. In the same year the value of the mines‘production amounted to 16770 billion Rials, in which the highest value of the annual mines productions was of the iron ore, copper and ornamental stones with 5374, 4770, 1519 bln. Rials. In 1384 the value added of operating mines of the country has amounted to 13502 bln. Rials, of which the copper, iron ore and ornamental stones with 4565, 3626 and 1320 bln. Rials have had respectively the highest figure. These mines have had about 70 % of the total value added of this sector. Kerman, Yazd, and Isfahan provinces with 5914, 2873 and 644 bln. Rials have respectively enjoyed the highest worth amongst the operating mines of the country.

In 1384, of the overall 2551 billion Rials of new investment, 45 % has been allocated to long-lasting machinery and tools as well as

 11.5 % to the exploration and development.
